What does a gap mean?

The tint shows the share of satellites above each location's horizon with fresh navigation observations in this audience. Red means below 50% observed; amber means 50–80%. The tint clears when at least 80% meet the station target.

The map asks whether satellites visible at each location are heard anywhere in this audience. It does not draw a reception radius around a station. Ground location details list every known visible satellite and its monitoring status.

Coverage describes monitoring of the reference satellites. It does not measure local interference, positioning accuracy, every signal, or satellite health.

Reference orbits and missing data

An independent broadcast-orbit reference locates satellites that this collector may never have heard. If downloads stall, the last orbits keep placing satellites for up to three days (two for GLONASS). After that, an orbit remains listed as unknown instead of disappearing and making coverage look better.

Incomplete reference data is shown with a subtle grey tint and an explicit status. Known red and amber gaps remain visible. Hatching marks places where no satellite with a known orbit is above the horizon; they are unassessed, not clear.
